A friendly community nestled in the western most reaches of Canyon County, Parma is an agriculture-oriented small city of about 2000 people. Some of the most exciting agri-news has come from this area. Parma manufactured agri-equipment has a world wide market, three of the largest onion producers and shippers call Parma home, as well as thriving commercial business district. City utility rates are the least expensive of all small cities in Western Canyon County. To that add an award winning school district that tops nearly all of Idaho’s schools with a 97% graduation rate and a 71% go on to college rate. This is Parma. Welcome.
Mayor Leigh was reared and educated in Parma. He has degrees from Treasure Valley Community College, Boise State University, and a Masters degree from the College of Idaho. His teaching and school counseling spanned three different districts over 34 years. He taught 17 years in Parma. Nathan served in the US Navy from 1968 through 1974 and spent four years on a destroyer attached the Sixth Fleet. Upon retirement from teaching in 2008, he was elected to serve on the Parma City Council, was reelected to a second four year term in 2013, and was appointed Mayor by vote of the City Council on July 14, 2014.
